A delightfully detailed map of the West Indian island Tobago by John Thomson. The map displays excellent detail concerning roads, rivers, towns, bays, harbors, and other interesting topographical details.Thomson (1777-c1840) was a Scottish cartographer from Edinburgh, celebrated for his 1817 New General Atlas, published by himself in Edinburgh, John Cumming in Dublin, and Baldwin, Cradock, and Joy in London.

A well engraved and highly detailed chart of French Guiana and the island of Cayenne. Made in 1763 by Jacques Bellin (1703-72), a prolific cartographer assigned the Ministry of the French Navy. It shows soundings, anchorage's, channels, shoals, navigational sightings. Engraved by Croisey, engraver for the Depot Générale de la marine is noted as such on the map.

On many 18th century maps we find a depiction of Mer de L'Quest or Sea of the West a great sea, easily the size of the Mediterranean, to flow from the then-known Strait of Juan de Fuca and an opening to the ocean from this great sea at roughly in North California or Oregon and Quivira somewhere in Idaho.Engraved by Bouclet.
