A detailed large-scale map showing the Bering Strait, Kamchatka, Alaska and much of North America. While the Russian coastline is shown with reasonable accuracy.Showing tracks of Captain Cook. Prepared by Heinrich Roberts.A German language variant of Cook’s map of his explorations along the northwest coast of America and the northeast coast of Asia.
Based upon original work by Cook’s cartographer Henry Roberts. Vancouver Island is missing. Shows several lakes west of Hudson Bay in what is today northwestern Canada. Numerous depth soundings are detailed along the exploration tracks.
In addition to Cook’s work, also notes the explorations of Bodega and the inland discoveries of Hearn, and others. Engraved by I.C. Lackner for the 1788 edition of the "Allgemeiner Grosser Atlas", plate no. 107.

Two engravings. [492] Even before Pizarro’s death, a new royal governor, Vaca de Castro, was on his way to settle the turmoil in Peru. He refused to accept Almagro the younger, when he heard he had appointed himself the new governor and summoned his troops for battle. They were later joined by Alonso de Alvarado and by other Pizarrists. This culminated in a bloody battle at Chupas in 1542, near the city of Ayacucho. Uncommon miniature map of France, engraved by J.Spilbury for "A New General and Universal Atlas Containing Forty five Maps by Andrew Dury".This miniature atlas published during the Seven Years' War.The maps are typical for the period and well executed with great clarity. The plates are engraved in 1761 and in 1763 a second edition was presumably produced for the French market having all but nine with a French titles added above the top.
